STORM CHASING 2013-2014

Hopes were high today after such a long dry spell. A strong cold front meant surface temps didn't need to get as warm as we'd like during summer, but such is normally the way for winter storms.

A squall line was on the cards today and was already forming W of the range. Pittsworth copped a bunch of lightning around 1pm which was when I headed out. I met the line around Laidley as things started to get interesting:

1200x800 1200x800 1200x800 1200x800 1200x800 1200x800

I continued to track the storm east towards Brisbane.

1200x800 1200x800 1200x800

I now had to decide which coastal suburb I should head to for the next decent view. It was tricky for a bit but the S end of the line seemed to stay the strongest so I headed for Victoria Point.

1200x800 1200x800 1200x800 1200x800 1200x800 1200x800

Lightning was infrequent at this stage so I headed home shortly after.
